Deleting your Tablespread account
Last Updated: September 4, 2026
Tablespread is made by SanctumTools LLC. This page tells you how to delete your account and your data, exactly what goes, exactly what stays, and how long each part takes. It is written to be accurate rather than comforting — if something survives deletion, it is named here.
1. Delete it yourself, in the app
This is the fastest route and it needs nothing from us.
- Open Tablespread and sign in.
- Tap the monogram circle in the top-right corner to open Your household.
- Scroll to the bottom, to Your account.
- Read the paragraph there. It tells you which of the three cases below applies to you before you tap anything.
- Tap Delete my account (or Leave this household, if that is what your case says).
- A confirmation sheet describes what will happen. Confirm it.
You are signed out as soon as it finishes.
The three cases
A Tablespread household is shared — one pantry, one library, one shopping list, several people. So what deletion means depends on who you are in it:
| If you are… | What deleting does |
|---|---|
| A member (you joined someone else's household) | You leave, and your sign-in is deleted. The household and everything in it stays — it isn't yours to take. The others keep cooking from it. |
| The owner, alone in your household | The household is deleted with you: every recipe, menu, shopping list, your pantry, your spice rack, and any invitations you had sent. Your sign-in goes too. |
| The owner, with other people still in the household | We refuse. Deleting would take other people's recipes and lists with it. Each of the others can leave from Your account on their own phone; once you are the only one left, deletion goes through. The app says this to you rather than failing silently. |
If you have a paid subscription, we cancel it first. If the cancellation fails for any reason, nothing at all is deleted and you are told so — we would rather leave your account standing than delete the data while a card is still being charged.
The cancellation is immediate and not prorated. If you delete partway through a month or a year you have already paid for, that time is not refunded and access ends straight away. If you have just been billed and you would rather use the time first, cancel the subscription now and delete the account at the end of the period.
2. Or ask us by email
If you cannot get into the app — a lost phone, a sign-in that won't work, an account you no longer have access to — email support@sanctumtools.com with the subject “Data Deletion Request”, from the email address on the account.
We verify that the request comes from the account holder before deleting anything, which may mean one reply from us asking a question only you can answer. Then we run the same deletion described above. Requests are processed within 30 days, and usually far sooner.
An emailed request does the same thing the button does. Section 4 lists the two things that survive either route — your consent record, which we keep on purpose, and Stripe's payment records, which are not ours to delete.
3. What gets deleted
Deleting the household (the sole-owner case) removes, from our live database:
- every recipe in the library, including ones you captured from a photo or typed in yourself;
- every menu and planned week;
- every shopping list, including checked-off history;
- your pantry and your spice rack;
- your household's allergies, diet, dietary goals and dislikes — including entries describing other people in your home;
- your appliances and bakeware;
- the member list, and any pending invitations — which carry the email address of the person invited, so they go too;
- the household record itself;
- your sign-in account, last, so that if anything above fails you still have an account to try again with.
Leaving a household (the member case) removes your membership and your sign-in account. The household's contents are not yours and are not touched.
How long it takes
- Immediately — the deletion runs while you wait, and is usually done in a few seconds. A very large library can take up to a few minutes; the app tells you it is working. It is gone from the live app the moment it finishes.
- Up to 7 days — encrypted disaster-recovery backups rotate on a schedule and are purged after that. They are not readable by the app and are never used to restore a deleted account.
4. What we keep, and why
These survive deletion. Neither contains your recipes, your menus, your pantry or your household's health information.
- Your consent record. A short trail of which Terms and Privacy Policy version you agreed to, which allergy-safety notice you acknowledged, and when — together with the email address the account was verified under. No food, no recipes, no household contents. It exists so that both of us can show what was agreed and by whom, which is the one record whose whole purpose is to outlive the relationship; the email is what makes it evidence of a person rather than of an account number that no longer resolves to anyone.
- Payment records. Held by Stripe, our payment processor, under their own retention rules and the record-keeping the law requires of them — typically up to 7 years. We never see or store your card number, and deleting your Tablespread account does not delete Stripe's records.
Three other records used to live on this list — the per-day counters that stop one account exhausting the service, any crash reports the app had sent us carrying your account id and email, and your original request for access if you joined during the invite-only period. Deleting your account now removes all three automatically. You do not have to ask.
If you believe something else of yours remains, email support@sanctumtools.com and we will find it and remove it, except where the law requires us to keep it. Stripe's records are not ours to delete.
5. What we cannot take back
Recipe designs are generated by Anthropic's models and the app runs on Google Firebase. Data those providers have already processed is subject to their retention schedules; a deletion request to us clears our systems and does not reach into theirs. Neither provider is permitted to use your data to train their models.
6. There is no undo
We cannot restore a deleted account or a deleted household, and we will not try to — a backup that could be reached to undo a deletion is a backup that could be reached for other reasons.
Tablespread has no full data export. The one thing you can take out is a book: thirty or more of the dinners you have actually cooked, made into a PDF from the Books shelf inside the app. A book is included on every paid plan and costs $2.99 on the free plan. Your menus, shopping lists, pantry and spice rack are not in it and cannot be taken out at all — they live in the app and nowhere else.
So if something matters to you, make the book — or write it down somewhere outside Tablespread — before you delete. Afterwards it is gone, and we will not be able to get it back for you.
